What is EDIS?

EDIS is is used to manage the electrical data in buildings, to control the collation and quality of electrical certificates and ensure continuity when key staff or contractors leave.

Electrical testing of a large complex building

top switch In order to comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations the engineering manager of a large technically complex building (floor area 13 acres, 2000 distribution boards) needed to confirm the safety and integrity of the building's electrical infrastructure. In order to do this an electrical inspection and testing project was initiated.

Due to the volume of work electrical testing software was essential in order to get the job done. The system needed to be multi user and capable of handling the large volume of data and documents that the testing would generate; potentially 6000 pages of electrical certificates and test data. Data entry and review also needed to be effective and efficient to ensure optimal us of contractors' time.

After carefule review, EDIS- web based electrical testing software was selected. EDIS would address the challenges of the testing project by providing a central repository for all authorised users to edit, view and approve the electrical certificates and other documentation relating to the project.
