What is EDIS?

EDIS is an internet cloud based system that serves all stakeholders in meeting the electrical compliance challenge.

EDIS is used to manage electrical compliance across the estate. EDIS provides an integrated solution for ensuring electrical compliance - regardless of the number of buildings, geographic distribution or number of electrical contractors. EDIS provides a central web based repository - one version of the truth - for electrical certificates, distribution board schedules, electrical schematics, compliance status, next test dates and much more.

It provides a simple, convenient web based software to create, edit, store and recall all the information relating to electrical certificates and electrical installations. EDIS follows the requirements of British Standard BS 7671 "Requirements for electrical installations".

EDIS is is used to manage the electrical data in buildings, to control the collation and quality of electrical certificates and ensure continuity when key staff or contractors leave.

ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS, ELECTRICIANS AND CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES

EDIS is a web based solution for creating and managing electrical certificates. Electricians use EDIS to create electrical certificates, manage electrical testing programmes, reducing paper and making the required information accessible and available to authorised users. Because EDIS is web based the information and certificates can be easily shared with all authorised users- saving time, paper and money.

EDIS follows the format required by BS7671, 2008, Amendment no.1.

EDIS is a multi-user web based system – accessible from any browser by authorised users.
EDIS is a hosted service; requires no internal IT support

The release will provide enhanced user self service and user rights making it easier to register and request user rights

New Release of EDIS for BS 7671 2008: Amendment 1

This is an announcement to tell you that a new release of EDIS has been completed today. When you log in you will notice that the release includes:
1. Updates to ensure that EDIS meets the requirements of Amendment 1 BS7671, 2008. The previous format remains available and electricians can choose which format to use.
2. Improved filtering and downloading of data lists; providing more control over the way data is accessed and viewed.

EDIS switchover for BS7671: 2008 Ammendment 1

Amendment 1 to the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations BS7671:2008 was published in July 2011 and will come into effect on 1 January 2012. The EDIS switch over to the model forms described in new Appendix 6 is scheduled to take place on 15 November 2010. You need take no action within EDIS; the changes will happen automatically.
