EDIS switchover for BS7671: 2008 Ammendment 1

Amendment 1 to the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations BS7671:2008 was published in July 2011 and will come into effect on 1 January 2012. The EDIS switch over to the model forms described in new Appendix 6 is scheduled to take place on 15 November 2010.  You need take no action within EDIS; the changes will happen automatically. 

There are however two things that you need to be aware of:
1) Incomplete certificates will be switched over to the new layout and completed certificates will remain as they are.
2) The category errors in certificates which are not complete on 15 November 2010 will be translated to the new classification codes. The translation of the old category errors to the new classification code will be done in the following way:

  • Cat error 1 - Requires urgent attention  -> C1- Danger present: Risk of injury immediate remedial action required
  • Cat error 2 - Requires improvement -> C2-Potentially dangerous: Urgent remedial action required  
  • Cat error 3  - Requires further investigation -> C3-Improvement Recommended
  • Cat error 4  Does  not comply with BS 7671:2001 -> C3-Improvement Recommended
  • 5- Non-conformance found and fixed -> NCFF

The following categories remain as they are:

  • FIO- for information only
  • N/V- Not Verified
  • LIM -Limitation
  • N/A- Not Applicable
