Amendment 1 to the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations BS7671:2008 was published in July 2011 and will come into effect on 1 January 2012. EDIS will be ready with the new format before January 2012, the existing and new format reports will then be available and accessible to authorised users.
One of the changes in this Amendment 1 to the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations BS7671:2008 is the renaming of the Periodic Inspection Report as an ’Electrical Installation Condition Report’ or EICR. The new report schedules provide different report layouts for different types of installation. There are three types:
There are also new Observation Codes, these will replace the existing category error codes. Changes to the Observation Codes to help make reporting more consistent between inspectors and making priorities clearer. There will now be 3 codes instead of 4.
The existing PIR Code 4 ‘Does not comply with BS 7671:2008′ will no longer be used. EDIS includes two further information codes: 5-'Non-compliance found and has been resolved' and INFO - 'an for information only item'.
These changes will be implemented and tested in EDIS before Jan2012.
